One detail about the file itself. Most videos return an MP3. Some return M4A instead, which is the same audio in a different wrapper. Every phone and every desktop player opens it, and the file name tells you which one you got.

Two separate rules apply. YouTube’s own Terms cover how you may take content off the platform, and pulling it down outside the features YouTube ships is against them.
